Restore STEM Config

Category: Microscope & GIF

Description: This is the counterpart of the Restore TEM Config script also available at this site. This script will upload a complete lens, stigmator and deflector STEM configuration to the 2010F microscope (which must be in STEM mode). Use this script to completely restore a given STEM configuration (eg after a student has mashed things). An appropriate configuration file can be created using the 'Save Microscope Config' script by the same author, available from this site. WARNING Changes to deflectors are permanent, ie the previous settings are not restored when switching out of free lens mode (as happens with changes to the lenses). Use this script at your own risk (write down all lens, def and stig settings before experimenting).
Comments: Requires a working serial connection to the JEOL TEM, with the microscope in EXT 1 mode (external control). Values stored in configuration files (actually images) may not be the same as those which appear in the microscope list of lens values (type prtest m2 at the JEOL keyboard to bring this list up). JEOL add offsets to lenses when they are read out (don't ask me why). However, this is not a problem, as the offsets are removed when the values are read back in
