Trainingschool – Ultramicrotomy

16.5.- 18.5.2023

The best microscope in the world gives poor results if the preparation is lousy.

Ultramicrotomy is a widely adopted and versatile technique which can be utilized to prepare samples for a range of characterization methods.

Our highly trained and experienced specialists provide insights into the preparation of soft materials, with a primary focus on ultramicrotomy. Be a scientist, engineer or technician – you will profit from this course to solve your preparation problems. Our qualified staff will guide you step by step through the operation of ultramicrotomes during an intensive 3-day practical workshop – covering both room temperature and cryogenic applications. Test new developments for the best possible preparation of your samples.

We offer highly informative lectures, detailed discussions with experts in the field, and hands-on experience with various techniques. By the end of the course you will have the know-how to optimize the preparation of your samples.

In individual cases it is possible to bring your own sample, but it is necessary to send exact details about it and the specimen itself to us in the forefront. You will have the opportunity to prepare and analyze them on your own with professional help.

At FELMI-ZFE, scientific curiosity meets experience in ultramicrotomy – always at your service!

Registration

Please send registration and questions about the “Trainingschool – Ultramicrotomy” via email to claudia.mayrhofer@felmi-zfe.at

In order to organize an optimal course, please answer the following questions at the registration:

  • How much experience have you had with ultramicrotomy (beginner or advanced)?
  • Which materials do you examine?
  • Which specimens are of particular interest to you?
  • What instruments (brand and model) do you use most often?
  • In special cases, your own samples can be accepted if they are previously transmitted to us. Are you interested in such a service? If yes, which specimen is concerned (exact sample description)?

Registration will be limited to a maximum of 8 participants – First come, first serve!
